![]() Recently the investigators of the LARCA group of the Departament de Llenguatges i Sistemes Informàtics (LSI) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) have been meeting in Citilab to review their past and present and look forward to the future. Until now LARCA has been an international research group focused on the research on algorithms about relational structures, complexity and computational learning, and their applications. For 2009, LARCA want to maintain this line of work and also have the intention to get involved in new fields of investigation such as natural language or work on new areas such as applicability or technological transference. This meeting in Citilab-Cornellà has been used by the members of LARCA to show their work to other members of the group, define the LARCA of the future and begin to co-ordinate projects commissioned by the Ministry of Science and Innovation. LARCA is looking forward to beginning a national project called SESAAME which will last until 2011 and in which the universities of Zaragoza, Valladolid and Oporto will also participate. Ricard Gavaldà has taken over from José Luís Balcázar as group co-ordinator. The general feeling of the meeting in Citilab was very enthusiastic and augurs well for a promising new era for this established research group. |
